Listening to “Taps” on Memorial Day.

“Since that fateful day, we have made choices that give us hope. The United States and Japan forged not only an alliance, but a friendship that has won far more for our people than we could ever claim through war.” —President Obama at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. Last week, President Obama visited Hiroshima becoming the first sitting U.S. President to do so. While there, he spoke with Shigeaki Mori, an atomic bomb survivor who was just 8 when the bomb detonated on Aug. 6, 1945.

Ahead of Memorial Day, President Obama met with service members and their families at the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan.
