As part of the Joining Forces initiative, First Lady Michelle Obama will welcome military families to the White House to view the 2016 holidaydecorations. As in years past, several of the White House holiday decorations will honor military families.

White House Summit on Diversity and Inclusion in Government

Participants will elevate the importance of unconscious bias training as a lever for building equity in opportunity and an engaged workforce. The discussion will go beyond training as a lever for mitigating bias and specifically identify the nexus between behaviors of an organization’s leaders and successful strategies for inclusion.

First Lady Michelle Obama Welcomes the Official White House Christmas Tree to the White House

This year’s White House Christmas Tree, which will be on display in the Blue Room, is a 19 foot Douglas Fir donated by a tree farm in Pennsylvania.
The tree will be presented to Mrs. Obama by Dave and Mary Vander Velden of Oconto, Wisconsin, the 2016 winners of the National Christmas Tree
Association national tree contest.
